Description
Inspired by the garment referenced in William Gibson’s 2003 novel Pattern Recognition, the William Gibson Collection reimagines classic U.S. military wear through a modern, monochrome lens. This Black Pea Coat is built on the original U.S. Navy pattern of the 1910's and constructed to the uncompromising standards Buzz Rickson's is known for. Crafted in Japan from 36oz high-density wool melton, it offers exceptional warmth and a clean, structured profile. Authentic 13-star buttons retain the detailing of early naval issue, while a slightly shortened length updates the silhouette for contemporary wear. Horsehide trims on pocket welts provide added durability, while these are corduroy lined. Boasting a rigid, high collar, this Pea Coat follows the example of original garments and has been specially designed to protect your neck from arctic winds. A throat tab allows the collar to be easily buttoned in place, while 10 military-spec urea buttons adorn the front, custom-designed with the early-style 13 Star and Anchor motif - each star representing the first 13 states of America after independence. - Material: 36oz Melton wool - Lining: Rayon cotton satin - Button: Mil Specs urea (13 Star and Anchor Motif Early Type) - Label: Naval Clothing Factory / William Gibson - Horsehide leather trims on slash pockets/fully corduroy lined - High rigid collar w/throat tab - 10 military spec urea-buttons with 14 star and anchor motif - Made in Japan
