- This Type A-1 leather jacket is reproduced by "Buzz Rickson's", based on vintage. The Type A-1, established in 1927, was produced as a summer flight jacket until the adoption of the A-2 in 1931. Before zippers became practical, the front used buttons for closure. The A-1 used sheepskin, which, while flexible and easy to move in, was less durable compared to horsehide or steerhide, making surviving examples rare and miraculous finds. This A-1 uses a horsehide for enhanced durability. This season's horsehide underwent full vegetable tanning, with a finish using pigment coating for better water resistance.
