Description
Henrik Vibskov’s Monster Socks are knitted textile worms – soft, playful, and sculptural figures designed to house what we would otherwise throw away – textile in it’s final stage of its lifecycle. Meant to offer a tangible, sensory experience the Monster Sock needs your textile waste and participation to become a new object. A visual and physical reflection on our criterions for discarding, it confronts us not only with what and how much we discard but also with our different perceptions of when the final lifecycle is reached. By the participation of the customer the Monster Sock project re-defines the role of the user as a maker and with it the shared responsibility for our resources. The monster worm is inspired by the earthworm – nature’s quiet recycler. It processes the dead and nourishes new life. In the same way, we hope that Monster Socks can remind us that everything we create and eventually discard should inherent the potential for a new beginning – and that awareness starts with an action we can feel (fill) with our hands. Materials Made from 100% recycled polyester and hand stuffed in the HV Studio with shredded leftover materials.
