Description

Pendant in carved sardonyx agate, featuring a low-relief “Man in the Moon" motif with a somber expression. Skillfully worked to adjust the depth of the white layer, creating subtle tonal variation and shadow. Mounted in 9kt gold. English, circa 1880.  Sourced by Will Martindale, Classical Gem Hunter, a curator of historical jewellery pieces, based in Mayfair. Will is drawn to pieces with an authentic sense of beauty; he believes jewellery is made to be worn, held and lived in. These pieces were selected by Jonathan Anderson, bridging the worlds of antiquity and fine craftsmanship.
