Description
Recreate a grand masquerade ball thrown in 1745 by Louis XV at Versailles’ renowned Hall of Mirrors with the Montblanc Star Legacy Suspended Exo Tourbillon Chateau de Versailles : “Le Secret du Bal des Ifs”. This exceptional timepiece combines traditional haute horlogerie, marquetry, hand engraving, and champleve enamel with digital 3D modeling and laser engraving. The main dial recreates the famous “Yew Tree Ball”, with a white gold 750/1000 (18 karats) base covered in black enamel and gold paillons, evoking the reflections of the candle-lit chandeliers in the windows of the Hall of Mirrors. The arches are made of Cacholong stone and Sarrancolin marble, from the same quarry in France’s Hautes-Pyrenees region used at Versailles. The parquet flooring is faithfully reproduced in solid oak. The chandeliers and costumed guests are engraved on a sapphire plate superimposed on the main dial. Inspired by watches from the era of Louis XIV, the dial located at 12 o'clock recalls the traditions of Haute Horlogerie using champleve enamel and yellow gold 750/1000 (18 karats) engraved ring, while the skeleton yellow gold 750/1000 (18 karats) hands are topped with the Head of Apollo. The yellow gold 750/1000 (18 karats) case is adorned with a hand-engraved laurel wreath on the bezel and a scene depicting Minerva and Mercury on the caseband recreating a painting from the Salon de la Paix – a room located next to the Hall of MirrorsThis timepiece is powered by the Manufacture MB M16.68 calibre with the patented Suspended Exo Tourbillon complication that required three years of development. The interchangeable gray calf strap with alligator print and the yellow gold 750/1000 (18 karats) triple-folding clasp complete this exceptional timepiece. Limited to 8 pieces, the Montblanc Star Legacy Exo Tourbillon Chateau de Versailles : “Le Secret du Bal des Ifs” comes in a coffret made of walnut, containing a music box playing an air from a comedie-ballet by Jean-Philippe Rameau.
