The latest Parka to join our iconic Authentic outerwear collection is the Cold Weather Parka. Based upon the MK1 Cold Weather Parkas predominantly issued to the RAF flight and ground crews throughout the mid 1940's and 50's, these parkas were designed to be the lighter weight equivalent to the Extreme Cold Weather Parkas that were worn in the harshest conditions. Extensively used by bomber crews, the Cold Weather Parka was also worn by mountain rescue teams, and so is sometimes referred to as the Mountain Rescue Parka. Our Cold Weather Parka is made in England from L24 Ventile®, a tightly woven, waterproof cotton originally designed for the RAF by the Shirley Institute in Manchester during WW2.
