Description

The Mountaineer Down Jacket is a high-quality down jacket filled with premium duck down feathers. Suitable for cold climates, the down efficiently retains body warmth while expelling excess moisture, ensuring optimal comfort and insulation. The outer material is a durable nylon with a Taslan finish, which boasts an intricate structure made from long nylon filaments. These filaments are twisted into uneven loops using compressed air, resulting in a fabric that has a rough, matte feel with a dry touch. This process not only enhances the jacket’s aesthetic appeal but also provides exceptional tear resistance and strength. The design of the Mountaineer Down Jacket is an eclectic mix of the sheepskin flight jacket worn by the U.S. Air Force from 1941 to 1942, known as the Alaskan Jacket, and the rugged mountain jackets used by mountain troops. As aircraft in those days were not sufficiently pressurised, the Alaskan Jacket was specifically made for the extreme cold of Alaska, where temperatures could plummet to -50 degrees Celsius.
