Ventile's unique technique of doubling and compressing the individual strands of cotton yarn achieves the fabric's remarkable water resistance. This is a short unlined mac to keep it light and easy to wear. Wear over a Sea Island cotton polo shirt or an unstructured blazer. Ventile has an extraordinary history – it was used in World War II to make RAF immersion suits which saved the lives of numerous aircrew who fell into the sea. Like Sunspel, Ventile use only the finest extra long staple cotton, which allows them to make long, very fine strands of yarn that have been spun, doubled and compressed to increase durability and stability. 15,000 individual strands of yarn are combined on the loom to manufacture this luxury lightweight fabric.
