Description
The Lot.603 Sweatshirt is Taiga Takahashi’s homage to the beginnings of American sportswear, rooted in the years before synthetics reshaped casual clothing. Its flat, direct-cut silhouette recalls the practical simplicity of early sweatshirts, and details like the double V gussets at front and back of the neck are reconstructed with historical accuracy. The fabric itself is something special: a tubular jersey knit from American cotton on a century-old hanging knitting machine in Wakayama, the last of its kind still operating. Producing only a meter of fabric per hour, it yields a dry hand and subtle unevenness, as if the air itself were part of the cloth. The Lot.603 comes in finishes that highlight traditional Japanese dyeing and artistry. Mud Dyed Brown and Sumi Dyed Black are carefully dyed one by one, each carrying tonal depth and variation. Hand Drawn Sumi pieces are even more distinct, with sumi ink brushstrokes applied by Kyoto Yuzen artisans in collaboration with karakami workshop Kamisoe. No two are alike, every sweatshirt carrying its own landscape of ink, texture, and atmosphere.
