Founded by Jenia Kim in 2013, J.Kim blends Uzbek folk craft with traditional Korean dress elements to honor the designer's multicultural heritage as a Koryo-Saram. Raised in a Soviet-Korean family in Tashkent and Russia, Kim channels her diverse background into distinctive ready-to-wear pieces. The brand features innovative designs, such as puffer jackets with petal-shaped cutouts showcasing deadstock suzani fabrics and casual wear inspired by minhwa prints. Utilizing materials like vintage Soviet textiles, Korean jacquard silk, and soft cotton jersey, J.Kim creates effortlessly wearable yet intricately constructed garments that reimagine historical and cultural references for a contemporary audience.
