Founded in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy, Panerai initially served as a workshop, watchmaking school, and supplier of precision instruments to the Royal Italian Navy. The brand gained prominence with the development of its iconic Radiomir dive watches, featuring self-luminous dials for underwater use. By the 1940s, Panerai introduced key innovations like the Luminor material and the signature crown-protecting bridge. Following its public debut in 1993, Panerai became part of Richemont in 1997, and began producing in-house movements.
