LA1-AD is a mid-layer stripped down to purest form and function. The formal yet relaxed impression of the zero resistance set-in shoulder is underscored by the raw fuzzy exterior face of the Polartec® Alpha® Direct fabric. The NBC style chest pocket hints at the technology’s mil-spec origins. Generous—yet almost invisible—low position pockets and the integrated Shirtslingǽ enhance convenience and civility. The result is an ultralight ultra-versatile three season shirt that fascinates by virtue of what it's missing, as much as by what it's made of. Cut longer in comparison to LA3 or LA6, with a shirt tail to allow for hem tuck. Polartec® Alpha® Direct is designed as insulation that can be used with or without the need for face or lining fabrics. Essentially an open mesh of high loft polyester fibers, it forms an airy structure that traps heat close to the body and breathes exceptionally well. Polartec® Alpha® was originally developed for the U.S. Special Forces when they required a more advanced insulating material in their combat uniforms. This fabric is a new technology with active insulation that regulates core body temperatures during both dynamic and static activities. This latest advancement in adaptable breathability helps eliminate the need of shedding or adding layers while on the move. A highly compressible fabric, it easily layers with other materials and is storable in small spaces.
