Kato’s respect for denim reaches back decades. Our years of experience and research resulted in our version of the sought-after denim of the 50s-70s. We craft these fabrics with meticulous precision to replicate the uniform texture of the faded vintage denim collected for the Kato archives. We had a vision of a new denim that after an extended search we found only one mill in Japan that could make it. Usually nep denim uses polyester in the fabric to make the neppy appearance but we wanted it to be an all natural 100% cotton denim. Featuring narrow 1/8th inch stitching that lends a slightly more refined look to the jeans. A two-tone yoke thread design gives the appearance of a vintage single stitched yoke while maintaining the durability of a double felled seam.
