Kato’s respect for denim reaches back decades. Our years of experience and research resulted in our own version of the sought after denim of the 70s. This fabric has been crafted with meticulous precision to replicate the uniform texture of the faded vintage denim collected for the Kato archives. To make this a timeless pair of jeans, we chose our straight cut, “The Hammer” and the modern slim cut “The Pen”. The 12.5 ounce, 100% cotton denim does not have stretch but it will break in and mold to you, making it a pair you will want to wear for years. We wanted these jeans to be vintage down to the core details, so we introduced a button fly, using donut style laurel leaf buttons, which have been acid dyed to give them an authentic aged look. We also added a pop of color with a red leather patch, our own twist on the original. We are offering several versions of the Classic Slub Denim that represent different stages of aging. This wash reproduces the look of a pair of jeans that have been worn for many years with frequent washing. Usually, when vintage jeans are this faded, they have holes in the knees and are close to falling apart. This pair is only just getting started and has many years of wear to come.
