GEOFFREY BEENE Vntg Black & White Shift Dress w Quilted Swing Coat

Description

This cheerful 1990s vintage ensemble from Geoffrey Beene comprises a swing coat and coordinating dress, both with red quilted trim. The jacket is an open swing style with a funnel neck, bracelet length raglan sleeves, and slash pockets. The main shell fabric is a tiny black and white windowpane check that is channel quilted with silver metallic thread. The cuffs, neckline, and lining are red with a grosgrain texture and little white polka dots. The dress is a shift style with tapered dolman sleeves and red quilted insets at the neckline. The fabric is also black and white in a very tiny textured diamond pattern. Very close up photos of both fabrics appear at the end of the photos after the label so you can see what they actually look like. Geoffrey Beene had a sly way of hiding his size and fabric labels in sleeves, pockets, etc., and I've found a size 6 tag inside a coat sleeve, but I've not found any fabric information. The hip measurement of the dress is exactly a modern size 6, according to our latest sizing charts. The only one of the fabrics I'll take a guess at is the outer coat fabric, which I believe is cotton or a cotton blend. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with similar garments that fit you. COAT MEASUREMENTS - Diameter of coat at underarms is about 64" and it gets wider from there. - Sleeve length is 29" from center collar to end of cuff. - Length is 35" down center back excluding collar. DRESS MEASUREMENTS - There are no seams to measure between, but our best estimate for the underarm chest measurement is about 40" - Waist is 37" - Hips are 38" - Length is 38" down center back. CONDITION Both coat and dress are in excellent condition and could pass for new. RETURNS Returns are accepted only if we are notified by you via email within three days after receiving your purchase.
