AW15 Massive Knit Pants

IG: Guerrero_sto Yohji Yamamoto Massive Knit Pants (FW15) Yohji's FW15 collection was marked by violence. The models walked the runway with scars and bruises as if they had just been forcibly robbed, while brandishing clothes that had bore the same punishment. Torn and stitched up "scars", botched patchwork, raw edges, and spliced knits accompanied these injured models to convey Yohji's message. The depiction of violence through clothing is not something novel to Yohji, who had already executed this idea in an earlier collection (SS13), a collection that he used to symbolize the highs and lows that his company had experienced (almost going bankrupt in 2009). This pair of pants come from the FW15 collection. They are made of a thick and heavy wool-nylon blend (and a 100% wool panel). They feature an insanely wide construction, with a "flap" made of a different material on the front. The construction, combined with the materials, allow these pants to drape to the point where they blur the line between a jagged skirt and a pair of pants. These pants depict the overarching theme of violence with the stitched flap materials, the jagged and uneven hems, and the distressed waist. The cable-knit material is kind of blue-grey, while the "flap" material is made of a darker grey colour. While they look warm and heavy, they are quite forgiving and not overwhelming due to the loose knitting and the ample construction. The flap can also be worn in a number of ways due to two buttons that sit on the left side. Additionally there are belt loops and a drawstring to adjust the waist. Possibly the craziest pants I have owned thus far, coming out of one of my favourite recent Yohji collections.
