In 1934, the people of Dallas installed a giant Pegasus sign atop the tallest building west of the Mississippi River. Rotating 450 feet up and visible from up to 75 miles away, the red neon Pegasus became a symbol of the city and a wayfinding point for drivers and pilots alike. As Dallas grew and prospered throughout the 20th Century, the Pegasus continued to stand watch over downtown. The 2025-26 Dallas Mavericks City Edition jersey honors the Pegasus, the classical mythological creature that serves as a beacon of hope and progress. This version, however, features Mavericks’ neon blue wings soaring through the black sky, much like the team on game night. The name Dallas appears in classic Greek type across the chest.
